El Paso Desert Open delivers fun and more
The annual golf tournament, named the El Paso Desert Open, hosted 132 golfers and a lot of support from the membership. Presented by Haskins Electric, the tournament found an overwhelming number of golf enthusiasts and in some cases, novices trying their hand at hitting that little white ball. “I will admit that this year we have had a lot of our regular groups fall short on their player goals, but the Builders Association came through with flying colors.” said Mike Singleton, the Painted Dunes Golf Pro. “Congratulations!”
Indeed, there are blessings and headaches when so many gather at the golf course. “We feel like the EPAB tournament is a fun event that a lot of folks enjoy participating in,” said Chuck Haskins, owner of Haskins Electric. “We are very glad to support the Association as the presenting sponsor,” Haskins said.
The tournament brings together an eclectic group, some players who come out for a competitive event, and some who are simply happy being outside. The difficulty is making sure both groups have a fun time. “I enjoyed the event a lot and had good time,” said Joe Delgado from Inspired Interiors. “I am so happy as a new event participant, now I know what the hubbub was about.”
Our meal sponsor was HUNT Communities. “We love being out here,” Kathy Parry told the Outlook. Franklin Building Materials (Ricardo Aguilar) sponsored all eighteen tee boxes, while WestStar (David Osborn) flew the flags for the tournament. Nusenda Credit Union (Kathy Carrillo) showed its logo on all the golf carts used for the tournament. HUB International (Luis Rosas) ran the Hole-in-One which unfortunately wasn’t won. Coronado Building Company (Sal Masoud) sponsored the closest to the pin, Ferguson (Andy Alvarez) sponsored the longest drive while True Title Partners of El Paso (Angelique Roman) covered the raffle and registration effort. Rocky Mountain Mortgage (Raul Gonzalez) sponsored a long drive and Maverick Home Warranty (Susie Moore) did the closest to the beer. GECU (Conner Hernandez) brought us the putting green, handing out goodies to the players.
The volunteer team got goodies from members and filled the bags. Josie Ledesma, Sandra Lucero, Lisa Bilderback helped Margaret stuff the bags. My right hand man was Jeremy Alcala from Navy Federal Credit Union.
Our thanks to all who played, worked on the event, and made the El Paso Desert Open a smashing success.
